In this module theoretical knowledge about the following topics is taught:
- basics in immunology
- basic mechanisms of immune response
- cellular components of immune system
- examples of immunological diseases
- basic theoretical knowledge of immunological analytic methods
- structures and functions of unicellular microbiological systems as well as microbial communities
- physiology and genetics of microorganisms
- pathomechanisms
- structure and function of viruses, bacteriophages and prions, microbial growth and diversity. - Key competences:

After successful completion of the module, the students are abl to read and understand the relevant literature, as well as to evaluate immunological and microbiological data and facts critically and analytically.
