The students have in-depth knowledge of pre-industrial European history in general and agrarian history from the pre-industrial era until today in particular. They know the changed economic frameworks, the macroeconomic development since the 16th century as well as the history of increasing globalisisation, mercantilism, and its impact on the economies of the absolutist European countries. They are familiar with the transition of the pre-industrial to the industrial economy as well as the phases of early industrialisation. In addition to this, they learn the specific development and the importance of the agricultural sector for these developments and its influence until today. They are able to reproduce the main changes and their causes and reasons in light of the current international scientific debate and to critically reflect on them. In addition to this, the students learn to prepare information from different historical sources, to work with them, and to use them for the analysis of historical issues.
