The emphasis of this lecture is on the changing economic frameworks and the macroeconomic development since the 16th century as well as the history of increasing globalisation, mercantilism, and its impact on the economies of the absolutist European countries. It will also cover the transition from the pre-industrial to the industrial economy as well as the phase of the early industrialisation.
