In the centre of the lecture are the different agrarian societies, their development, development potentials, and their efficiency. The lecture hereby addresses traditional agrarian systems with regard to their eco-systems; traditional agrarian constitutions, traditional family farming and operational strategies; agrarian modernisation and agrarian reforms in transition to the 19th century; relationships between industrialisation and agriculture; worldwide agricultural markets since the 2nd half of the 19th century; and agricultural policy in the 20th century.
