Biology (Master, since 01.10.2010)
- Relation to other Modules:
- The module is part of the series "Enzyme Biotechnology".
- Sprache:
- German/English
- ECTS:
- 7,5 credits
- Frequency:
- every winter semester
- Length of the Module:
- 4 weeks (block 4)
- Compulsory assignment:
- Lab book - Attendance on the lab course -
- Module examination:
- Oral presentation of results and discussion (50 %) - protocol (50%
- Length of the examination:
- 30 minutes
- Workload:
-
90 h attendance + 135 h independent study = 225 h workload
- Professional competences:
-
Upon completion of this modul, the students are able to design strategies to purify enzymes by Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography and to perform side directed mutagenesis techniques. Further, the students can evaluate the purification based on yield, purification factor and electrophoretic methods. After this modul the students can determine the enzyme activity of different enzymes using different methods (e.g. spectrometric, HPLC). Students have knowledge about different immobilisation methods of enzymes after this modul and can performe and evaluate a covalent immobilisation method on macropourus particels. Upon this modul, the students can perfom and evaluate biotransformation processes.
- Key competences:
-
Upon completion of this module the students are able to plan and work in a laboratory independently. They will be able to interpret their results and to compare them with known data from literature. In addition, they will be able to present and discuss their results in the frame of an exam.
- Comments:
-
Number of participants is limited to about 10 students because of limited lab space and instruments
- eLearning:
- Course in ILIAS
