They know and understand the core relationships between technological progress, dynamics of the economy and economic growth and the diverse kinds of innovations (product and process innovation, organisational innovation and others), the internal and cooperative innovation processes in strategic alliances and innovation networks. They understand the importance and the role of the actors involved in the innovation process (inventors, organisations, research facilities, state, etc.) and the institutional framework of the innovation process (e.g. patent system, economic policy measures). They are able to apply the discussed concepts and procedures with the aid of graphical, theoretical and analytical techniques. Furthermore, they are able to analyse complex innovation phenomena.
