The students are able to expand their knowledge from the lectures "Environmental Management" and "Environmental Economics" in a subarea largely independently. They are able to independently write a structured paper on a predefined topic in the area of regulatory oriented environmental economics which adequately covers the topic and fulfils basic scientific standards. They are able to present the results of their work in front of a group of fellow students and to articulate and defend their point of view. The seminar is divided into a total of four sub-requirements. Besides the preparation of the seminar paper and the corresponding presentation, a written comment paper about the seminar paper of a fellow student must be prepared and presented.

The seminar is usually offered by the chairs of Prof. Sousa-Poza and Prof. Ahlheim in the winter semester and by the chair of Prof. Ahlheim in the summer semester.
