- Relation to other Modules:
- This module offers a good start in seed science in technology as the botanical and ecological basics will be explained and discussed in detail. So it is a good preparation for the other modules offerd by the division, including Master modules.

Students should be able to ... - recall their basic knowledge in botany in particular in flowering, fertilisation and seed formation - work on questings and tasks on the ILIAS platform.

- homework: identification of an unknown seed sample combined with a training in scientific writing

56 h in class + 60 h home-work + 10 h setting up a seed reference collection + 43.5 h preparation of classes and exam + 0.5 h exam = 170 h

- describe the basic botanical and ecological properties of seeds, fruits and seedlings
- comment on relevance of botanical and ecological properties of seed for the production of high quality seed
- recall and use seed morphology and technological properties of seed for seed identification purposes
- identify seed samples of the most important 40 species in the temperate climate zone. - Key competences:

This course can only accept 25 participants due to space constraints and supervision regulations! The registration is done on ILIAS via the course "3504-211 Samenkunde und -ökologie".
