Professional competences:

Students understand advanced breeding methods and breeding goals in selected crops (wheat, triticale, soybean, sunflower, rye and maize) with special emphasis on pure line and hybrid breeding. They learn planning, design and practical performance of nurseries and field experiments by modern techniques and comprehensive data analyses. Students get familiar with morphology of seeds and fruits and the most important methods of seed testing. They earn broad qualifications for a practical job in plant breeding, seed technology, applied research, and official and private seed testing.

Interaction in heterogeneous groups of students, interactive exercise of knowledge, attitude towards different lecturers, basis for discussion and competence for critical comparison of methods
