The module „Emerging Technology Business Case Study“ is the 3rd of the overarching modules in the curriculum. In this module, students form international and cross-disciplinary teams. It builds on the learning outcomes of the Summer School, as well as knowledge and skills acquired in previous modules, enabling students to develop new and promising business cases for specific emerging technologies in the food sector.
Prerequisites for Attendance:

Before starting this module, the “SPOC: Introduction to Food System” module has to be completed successfully.rnrnThis module builds on knowledge and skills acquired in the modules „Introduction to the Food System” and “Summer School: Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Food Systems”.

Upon completion of this module, students will be able to:\r\n• Describe the business environment in the food sector\r\n• Perform due diligence analysis on a specific food sector idea\r\n• Articulate the market opportunity including a competitor analysis and industry assessment\r\n• Develop a commercialisation strategy\r\n• Pitch the strategy to potential investors

Key competences:

Upon completion of this module, students will:\r\n\r\n• be able to translate innovations into feasible business solutions for the food sector\r\n• be able to think beyond boundaries and systematically explore and generate new ideas, responding to current and future challenges within the food system\r\n• be able to use knowledge, ideas and technology to create new or significantly improved products, services, processes, policies, new business models or jobs in the food sector.\r\n• Possess decision-making and leadership competencies, based on a holistic understanding of the contributions of Higher Education, research and business to value creation, in limited sized teams and contexts
