The students have in-depth knowledge of European economic history and its institutional development since the roman empire. They are familiar with the main economic and political changes in Europe and are able to evaluate the major reasons for and barriers to these developments based on the current state of the art and to analyse and evaluate them with the aid of economic and econometric models. They are able to recite the main changes and their causes and to reflect on them critically. Furthermore, they are able to transfer the acquired knowledge to other periods and regions. Hence, they are able to comment on current issues with a good foundation, for example on European integration or the development of the Euro, based on their historical knowledge. In addition to this, the students learn to work scientifically in an independent and quality-conscious manner with special regard to the knowledge needed to prepare an independent scientific work.
