The lecture aims at explaining the global european development since the roman empire using economic theory. Covered topics are beneath others the up- and downrise of preindustrialized societies and the change to modern growth during the industrialization as well as the meaning of globalization for growth and development in europe. The focus is on quantitative empirical research.
