The students are familiar with the various concepts, aspects and strategies of the bioeconomy and are able to discuss these critically or challenge them. They have developed their own perspective on the contents and potential of the bioeconomy as well as on the mechanisms of a societal transformation towards a biobased, sustainable economic system. They are able to describe the relevance and contributions of the different sectors and stakeholder groups in the bioeconomy. In addition, they are able to reflect on their own role as future bioeconomists.
- Key competences:
-
The students develop both their teamwork skills and ability to work independently through the elaboration of discussion papers (on a conceptual or controversial topic in the field of the bioeconomy) in groups. Through the preparation and discussion of these papers, they learn and practice critical, analytic thinking. Writing skills are trained through the writing of the report. Verbal communication skills are learnt and practiced through the presentation of the results and the moderation of discussions in which the discussion papers they have prepared are presented and also reviewed with external experts.
- Comments:
-
The discussion papers prepared and presented in the tutorials form 50% of the total assessment.
