Students will learn the basic principles of modeling and simulation with ordinary and partial differential equations in the life sciences. They will be able to classify and formulate mathematical models of processes in food engineering and earth system sciences and use the software packages MATLAB and COMSOL to implement and numerically ana-lyze them. Furthermore, students will know central concepts of model parameter identification from experimental data.
