Internal (organic) growth is a (revenue) growth from a company’s own resources. The aim is to increase the value creation continuously and on a long-term basis. External growth, on the other hand, is accomplished by means of mergers and acquisitions. Numerous unsuccessful mergers and acquisitions in the past couple of years let to an increasing interest in internal (organic) growth. Strategy related success factors such as innovation and customer orientation as well as company related success factors such as corporate culture, top management and organization are regarded as important drivers of internal growth. The course covers these topics by focusing on the areas of strategy and internal growth.
