The lecture provides an overview of a selected larger textual corpus from the Old or New Testament. The content changes depending on the eleceted corpus: using the example of the Old Testament "prophets", the religio-historical phenomenon of the prophecy is studied. The "wisdom books" represent poetical works in the Bible (prayers, songs, proverbs). Paul and the Pauline Epistles give insight into the fundamental beliefs of early Christians and the conflicts in the communities. The theology of John illustrates how Christology developed in the course of the first century A.D.
