Using selected primary texts, the socio-historical development of Germany since the middle of the 18th century until the end of the German empire is studied. The focus lies on the reflection of individual social groups in the estate-based society and the performance society as well as newly emerged social groups of the 19th century such as entrepreneurs, employees, and workers.
