Scientific research constantly increases our knowledge in medicine and life science. This process is accompanied by the retrieval and storage of data representing critical parameters of human health („Big Data“). By automated data analyses („Big Data Analyt-ics“), this information can be used to optimize various aspects in Health Care, like research in medicine and life sciences, entrepreneurship, technical engineering, and pa-tient care. To efficiently use „Big Data“ in health research, in the development of pharmaceuticals and medicinal products, and in management processes, digitalisation is urgently needed. However, this transformation to digitalisation has not yet been fully exploited in the Health Care sector. The modul gives insight into basic concepts of informatics and economy by discussing current problems in the Health Care sector, like personalized medicine, patient coaching, disease management, digital functions of medical devices, clinical process management, healthcare supply chains, and others.
