The lecture provides an overview of the core of the so-called "historical books" of the Old Testament (Genesis until 2 Kings) and discusses selected texts and topics from these books: creation, the flood, Abrahamic covenant, the binding of Isaac, God's revelation to Moses, Exodus, Decalogue, settlement tales, and historical interpretation of the Deuteronomist school. Historical and methodological questions are considered using examples from the individual texts.
