The participants understand the challenges that arise for agriculture and food security due to crises caused by conflicts and natural disasters. They are able to use theoretical and analytical concepts to assess how different types of crises affect agriculture and food security, and, vice versa, how agricultural and food security problems contribute to the emergence of crises. The participants are familiar with the policies, strategies and principles that have been developed to assist affected populations during emergencies and in post-emergency rehabilitation. They also have knowledge about the role of preventive measures, including disaster risk reduction and preparedness strategies as well as conflict-resolution measures. In addition, they are familiar with the different organizations that have a mandate for promoting food security and agricultural development in crises-affected regions.
