The course consists of lectures and practical exercises with current statistical analysis programs, in particular R. Students will analyze real data sets from animal and plant breeding and learn current methods for the analysis of genetic and phenotypic data in the context of animal and plant breeding.

The module is partitioned into three blocks:
1) Analysis of basic population genetic parameters in genome marker data: Linkage disequilibrium, levels of diversity, selection signatures
2) Analysis of genetic models: Preparation of data for import into software tools, simple association analysis and estimation of breeding values with BLUP and Bayes methods.
3) Advanced analysis of plant breeding field trials with mixed models as well as additional methods for the estimation of breeding values (Machine learning, lasso).

All analyses will be conducted in the R package.
