Inhalt:

The module consists of two parts.
In Part I, students will become acquainted with basic knowledge of ethical theory and tools for ethical argumentation (with Prof. Dr. Thomas Potthast; International Center of Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities IZEW, University of Tübingen):
- Recognition of ethical problems and questions in the area of food and nutrition security
- Determination and shaping of ethical questions on the basis of a theoretical guideline
- Development of ethical argumentation skills, articulating ethical positions and approaches to argue within discussions.

In Part II, students should be able to identify and critically reflect on ethical issues related to topics such as large scale land acquisition, food and nutrition security research, organic and conventional farming systems, production of biofuels, etc. (with guest speakers from the field of food and nutrition security).

The structure of the module has been improved to incorporate the suggestions of students of the past years.

A reading list will be announced during the first class. Readings will generally be provided via ILIAS.
