Inhalt:

Consumer behaviour and health are subjects which are intertwined in both directions. On one hand, consumer decisions regarding medical goods and services as well as decisions concerning for instance food consumption and spending leisure time influence the individual health status. Perceived health, on the other hand, may induce consumer actions which aim at either increasing well-being or minimising health risks. Consumer research has much to contribute for the explanation of these interrelations, ranging from the application of conceptual consumer behaviour models to the transfer of insights included in relevant empirical studies. Apart from establishing a general understanding and knowledge basis of mainly behavioural consumer research approaches, each class will focus on specific health-related topics like drug abuse, lack of exercise or nutrition advice. The students will get acquainted with articles published in highly-ranked academic journals, which can serve as an example for possible topics of a master thesis and will illustrate adequate research procedures.
