The students perform a journey through the 4.5 billion years of Earth and climate History. They learn about the governing natural forcing mechanisms like the Milankovich cycles or the influence of plate tectonics and today’s anthropogenic influences on the climate system. The development of the atmosphere and the sequence of cold and warm episodes is described in detail including the development of the biosphere and its influence on climate.
Finally, the radiation balance, the greenhouse effect and future climate scenarios are discussed
