After completion of the module students can describe the basic principles of remote sensing including the radiative transfer equation. They can apply and improve methods for remote sensing of land-surface properties (temperature, fluxes, vegetation), of the atmosphere (temperature and humidity profiles, clouds, and precipitation). Students can interpret remote sensing data from satellites (e.g. visualization of high-impact weather events such as hurricanes).
