Length of the Module:
1 semester
Module examination:
written
Length of the examination:
120 minutes
Workload:

56 h presence + 112 h preparation at home= 168 h workload

Professional competences:

This interdisciplinary module gives insight into the fundamental properties of and processes at the land surface. This lays the foundation for successfully dealing with numerous problems from the local over the regional to the global scale. After completion of the module, the students have good knowledge of the basic processes in the soil-plant-atmosphere system, which control the water and energy exchange at the land surface, and their representation through the most important governing equations.

Key competences:

Students learn to integrate new information with knowledge from the prior modules Physics and Biology of the Earth System. They learn how to apply problem solving strategies independently and in a different situation.
