The students get an overall view of the earth's vegetation (zonobiomes, orobiomes, and pedobiomes) against the background of solar and climatic zones and basic soil properties. They get to know the basics and methods of biodiversity research and its applications as well as dendrochronological, palynological, and archaeobotanical work for reconstructions of historical climate, vegetational history, and archaeology.
