Contents:

This course offers an overview of the most important globalization debates. It introduces students to approaches used in modern trade theory to address the following questions: Does international trade make us richer or poorer? Is increased competition with China harmful? Does international trade lead to more inequality within Germany? Does international trade lead to less inequality across countries? Is international migration desirable? Why do we exchange Volkswagen for Peugeot? Is the world flat? Should the agricultural sector be protected by trade policy? In the exercise class students deepen their understanding of concepts and methods covered in the lecture.
