The course provides an introduction to financial accounting in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Students will learn the fundamentals of financial accounting and how to identify, measure and report the financial effects of business transactions on firms.
The course gives students the necessary background to (1) apply accounting concepts and standards (IFRS) in determining the appropriate recognition, measurement and reporting requirements for common business transactions, (2) develop the skills needed to both prepare and analyze a set of financial statements, and (3) understand the governance function of financial accounting and critically assess the effectiveness of financial accounting and reporting practices in providing useful information for decision making. - Literature:
