This module gives an introduction to sociological thinking and discusses interactions between economic markets and society. Students will be introduced to classical sociological theories and will deal with core perspectives of business and industrial sociology. From a sociological point of view they understand managers as core actors of modern society. Based on theory and current developments lines of conflicts and conflicts of interests as well as their organizational and social treatment will be analyzed. Future leaders will face a rapidly changing environment. Competences of understanding the process of social change, interpreting empirical phenomena and deducing individual consequence will become more important. This course will help students to analyze and evaluate interpendencies between economic principles, social structures and socio-economic changes to influence their professional behaviour.
