Role of plant breeding in agriculture;
plant variety protection, multiplication and seed certification;
breeding objectives: yield, quality, and pest resistance; types of varieties: clones, lines, populations, hybrids;
breeding of energy crops (maize, Jatropha curcas L.),
biotechnology and plant breeding.

Lectures and demonstrations in the lab and field;
Beamer presentation (relevant materials are available as lectures notes) and demonstration materials
