The course is dedicated to the essential basics of bank management. At the beginning, the focus is on different business models of banks and the various national banking systems. To gain a deeper understanding of banking transactions, the functions of financial instruments are then explained and basic valuation methods are introduced. In addition to profit-oriented bank management, students learn about the bank's risk management both at the level of the bank as a whole and at the level of individual employees. Based on important theoretical models, the economic functions of a bank are developed and the sources of instability in the banking system are discussed. Finally, institutions and regulation concerning macroprudential and microprudential banking supervision, which are intended to contribute to the stability in the banking sector, are explained.
